Lighthouse 2014 seeks artists

Lighthouse 2014 is currently accepting art designs until the end of February. The project is aiming to create "dozens of magnificent 6ft lighthouse sculptures that will be finely crafted by schools and artists from across PEI & the rest of the Maritimes. These lighthouses will then be placed across the city in a route that would make a wonderful summer attraction. At the end of the summer, the sculptures are auctioned off to raise funds for various Island charities, organisations and causes."

"The lighthouses will be set out on trails across [Summerside], primarily in built up areas, subject to permission being granted by the relevant authorities. Maps of these trails will be created which will encourage families from local areas and further afield to spend an afternoon tracking down these brightly coloured lighthouses in a hunt across the city. The lighthouses will remain on display for a minimum of 60 days between June – September."
