Confederation Players Program recruiting

(Charlottetown, P.E.I.) – With the 150th anniversary of the Charlottetown Conference in full swing, the Confederation Players Program is fine-tuning and expanding to its greatest troupe size since the program began 25 years ago.

Every summer, a dozen or so bilingual, costumed young men and women provide a glimpse into the spark that led to Confederation, through extensive walking tours and historical vignettes. Presented by Confederation Centre, the program is currently looking for an administrative coordinator and several new male players for spring, summer, and fall work in 2014.

‘We are very proud to be fielding a troupe of 18 to 20 players this year,” says Fraser McCallum, program co-manager at the Centre. “This heritage program has become an indispensible part of summertime in downtown Charlottetown, and a distinctive cultural icon for both the Centre and the province. We are looking forward to a very busy season ahead.”

Interested applicants for the players should have experience in public speaking and performance, and an education or interest in Canadian history. Both full-time and part-time positions are on offer with some spring and fall work available. Bilingualism is not essential, but is a major asset. Due to the nature of the subject matter, the Centre is recruiting for only young men at this time. Applications should be addressed to McCallum at and must include a cover-letter, headshot, and resume.

Those applying for the administrative coordinator position should have professional experience in supervising, tourism and culture, and scheduling and record-keeping. Applications should be addressed to McCallum and must include a cover-letter and resume.

The Confederation Players Program is presented by Confederation Centre of the Arts, and is sponsored by P.E.I. 2014 Inc., and supported by Parks Canada. For more information, please visit
