Little Island, Big Voice

Music PEI is proud to announce they have engaged Nordicity (a leading international consulting firm, specializing in policy, strategy, and economic analysis) for Prince Edward Island's first comprehensive Music Industry Analysis and Economic Impact Study, "Little Island, Big Voice".

This important project has been many years in the making and Music PEI is extremely excited it's finally underway. The study will provide a snapshot of the value of the music industry to the economy of PEI. This is important in determining the return on investment music makes on the Island each and every year, the number of people employed and will give us a value on the export market of our music industry.

The study will look at all aspects of the music industry such as, entertainment, impact on tourism, supporting businesses and education. Music PEI believes that music is such an important facet and component of the Island's culture and economy and that it is far greater per capita than most other provinces. With more Island artists touring internationally than ever before, the impact of Music PEI investments in activities that include Showcase PEI, Music PEI Week and the Music PEI funding program along with the development of music as part of the tourism industry, the contribution to the Island's economy should be significant.

"Little Island, Big Voice" will create a profile of the music industry on PEI through a confidential online survey distributed to artists, music educators, and industry professionals on the Island. The process will also include in-depth interviews with industry workers and stakeholders.

Once completed and benchmark established, "Little Island, Big Voice" will provide the data needed to determine areas of future investment for growth in the music industry on PEI. The results will be made public to highlight successes to date, but also to look at areas of need and to determine strategies for even more growth and investment.

To make this project a success, Music PEI needs the help of all music industry workers on PEI by completing their confidential survey. Establish your impact on the Music industry here on PEI and get your voice heard!
