Music PEI is Hiring
January 4, 2016 | Music PEI Week is the annual celebration of the Island music industry, which includes conference workshops, showcases, concerts and the Music PEI Awards.
The 2016 May Run Music Festival and Canadian Song Conference will be the second edition of this rebranded event and it will take place between May 17 and the 22.
As a music industry association, Music PEI’s mandate is to assist with the development of PEI’s music industry and these two events are a major part of that development. The conference focuses on developing skills and knowledge to assist artists and industry professionals to develop sustainable careers. The festival provides performance and showcase opportunities as well as award presentations.
Music PEI is currently looking to fill four positions and the deadline to apply is January 14 at 5PM. This is a 21-week contract, which will run from early February until mid-June.
The 4 positions to be filled are:
Volunteer Coordinator/Sponsor & Artist Care This person will be responsible for recruiting and managing the volunteers for the event including delegating jobs and scheduling.
In addition they will be responsible for insuring the sponsors receive the various benefits they have been offered in return for their sponsorship including tickets, promo etc.
They will also be responsible for insuring the artists and industry professionals nominated for awards receive their participant benefits
Ticketing & Marketing Coordinator
This participant will be responsible for all ticketing, communication with ticketing provider, venues and the MPEI team.
They will also be assisting with the management of the marketing for the event including coordinating with the graphic designer, webmaster, media and advertising provider.
Technical Director/Assistant Producer
Responsible for communicating tech requirements between artists, venues, tech staff and MPEI team.
Scheduling shows, sound checks etc
Developing Conference panels and workshops
Recruiting speakers and panellists
Coordinating travel logistics for delegates
Coordinating and securing conference venue rentals
Creating marketing for outreach to promote the conference
This position is funded through Skills PEI and the Work Experience PEI program. As such, all applicants must be EI eligible and currently unemployed. The Skills PEI eligibility criteria are:
Must be unemployed and legally authorized to work in Canada (Canadian citizen or permanent resident); and have a current claim for Employment Insurance benefits;
Or have a previous EI claim whose benefit period ended in the preceding 36 months;
Or have a previous benefit period that began in the preceding 60 months, during which the individual was paid maternity or parental benefits, after which they left the labour market to care for a newborn or newly adopted child and are now seeking to re-renter the labour market.
As per the Skills PEI Work Experience Program, these are non-insurable earnings. Pay is commensurate with Skills PEI guidelines.
